Take Charge America Honored as One of the Best Places to Work
Phoenix Business Journal Recognizes Credit Counseling Agency
PHOENIX, Ariz. (Dec. 21, 2006)… Mary Hall, chief operating officer of Take Charge America (TCA), is pleased to announce that the non-profit credit counseling agency has been named one of the Best Places to Work in the Phoenix-area for the second year.
“Take Charge America is extremely proud of this honor,” said Hall. “Our employees make this a great organization. They are dedicated to our mission of educating the consumer on personal finance issues, and we want to make every effort to show our appreciation.”
In addition to competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package, TCA offers employees tuition reimbursement, free budgeting software, discount movie tickets, discount health club dues and a Toastmasters club. Moreover, the credit counseling agency offers employee training and provides counselors with as many as 20 hours of college credits from their first year of training.
“Financial education is a top priority at TCA,” said Hall. “We are striving not only to educate consumers, but also our own staff. It's a large expense for TCA, but it is worth it to ensure that every counselor is ready to provide a quality experience to the consumers who call us for assistance.”
The company holds a family picnic, holiday celebration and movie nights. Hall adds that employees consider TCA’s modern workspace another perk.
“The office has comfortable workstations and is outfitted with the latest technology,” she said. “Employees can also dine at an on-site cafe with a landscaped outdoor patio and fountain.”
In addition to fostering a positive internal work environment, TCA is very active in the community, sponsoring a variety of civic and community-oriented events year round. This holiday, the company donated $3,000 to St. Mary’s Food Bank, which is estimated to provide 21,000 meals, and staff members collected 87 gifts for the Salvation Army Angle Tree program. TCA also holds quarterly blood drives.
TCA, which has 410 employees, was selected as one of the Best Places to Work among large employers. The Best Places to Work program recognizes Phoenix-area companies based on employee feedback. In order to be selected for the honor, companies have to register for the program and a percentage of its staff had to take an employee survey administered by Quantum Research, of Wichita, Kan.
TCA was recognized at an annual celebration on Dec. 7 at the Biltmore Resort in Phoenix.
