Arizona Consumers Find Answers to Pressing Financial Questions Through Take Charge America Partnership with PBS; Segment Now Available Online
CEO John Fisher Served on Panel of Financial Experts Who Addressed Credit Card Debt, Unemployment, Mortgage Troubles and More
March 26, 2009 – A panel of financial experts, including Take Charge America, Inc. CEO John Fisher, addressed many the country’s most pressing financial issues in a PBS segment that aired throughout Arizona. Consumers who missed "Ask a Financial Counselor" on March 25 can view the panel discussion in its entirety at KAET-TV, Channel 8.
Fisher, along with Patrick Burkhart of Maricopa County Human Services and Jennifer Quillan of Arizona Saves, offered viewers tips and guidance on tackling their financial challenges, such as credit card debt, unemployment, foreclosures, emergency savings, budgeting and prioritizing. The resounding theme: free help is available.
"Reach out for help. Don’t try to solve this yourself if you haven’t built a plan and have the skills to do it," Fisher said during the show. "There are a lot of professionals like the people at this table and their organizations that are ready to help – help you start to sort through the problems and get a plan."
In addition to the panel discussion, 17 certified credit counselors from Take Charge America took viewer phone calls live from the KAET studios in Phoenix, offering free financial advice on a one-on-one basis. Consumers can still receive a free consultation by calling Take Charge America directly: (877) 822-6060.
"Educating consumers is one of our primary goals at Take Charge America,” said Fisher. “This partnership with Channel 8 has allowed us to reach even more people and provide them with financial knowledge and educational resources that are urgently needed in these tough economic times."
The partnership between Take Charge America and KAET was developed with financial assistance from JP Morgan Chase Bank.
